After sending out an announcement about this weeks show to all but a few people in my contact list, Gmail promptly shut down my email account for fear that I was spamming the world. I hope that those of you on the receiving end didn’t feel that way about it and bear with me if I have to wait 24 hours before responding to your emails.
So this little show that I’m assembling has been quite a lot of effort and I’m looking forward to seeing the final result. In the worst case scenario, I see my work hanging in a gallery and drink a proseco by myself. In the best case, I cause some controversy for presenting found art as my own, sell some pieces and have to translate some reviews from German to English. It is lucky that I will have the Transmission Fest to photograph to distract me from wondering whether or not people are in the gallery.
On that note, I got the list today of the shows that Pitchfork wants for the Melt! Fest. It’s massive. It’s going to be a true marathon and I can assure you that when I return home from that trip I am going to tune my ukulele, pack a picnic basket, grab a book and head for the hills. No laptop, no blackberry, no email, no bullshit distractions…Im going to go analogue for a week and see if I survive. You know, smell the roses and all that. I am happy for all these distractions though I also realize that I need to chill out a little and enjoy the summer.
